During that time, he helped transform the union’s player affairs operations, expand player services and engagement, and establish metrics that strengthened accountability and participation across the organization.
Known for building cultures grounded in collaboration, discipline, and trust, Don led initiatives including the launch of the NFLPA One Team PAC and the creation of the NFLPA Annual Leadership Summit—programs designed to strengthen player leadership and long-term union governance.

Don's 11-year playing career started with the New Orleans Saints before moving on to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and St. Louis Rams. He finished his career with the New England Patriots as a 2x Super Bowl Champion. Upon retirement from football, he was handpicked by Coach Bill Belichick to serve as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach and Team Chaplain.

Don is a proud graduate of the University of Kansas, where he received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Human Development. He also earned a Masters in Business Administration and a Doctorate of Education from George Washington University. Drawing on decades of experience in professional sports, executive leadership, and organizational research, Don works with leadership teams to move beyond leadership theory and implement practical frameworks that strengthen alignment, accountability, and culture.
His work includes the IDA Leadership Assessment, a diagnostic tool designed to help organizations understand how authority, influence, and alignment shape team performance and organizational trust.
Prior to launching his advisory and speaking work, Don spent sixteen years serving NFL players through the National Football League Players Association, including senior executive leadership roles where he advised and supported more than 1,900 active players across all 32 clubs. His work required navigating complex negotiations, union governance, and leadership challenges that demanded both strategic discipline and deep relational trust.
Before entering executive leadership, Don played eleven seasons in the NFL and earned two Super Bowl championships with the New England Patriots. Following his playing career, he joined the Patriots coaching staff as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach and Team Chaplain.
Don holds a Doctor of Education in Human & Organizational Learning and an MBA from George Washington University, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development from the University of Kansas.
